Enfield, Hackney, the Isle of Wight, Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Merthyr Tydfil, Newport, Nottingham City and Walsall have joined the Sustainable Food Places community, taking our network up to a whopping 128 members. This milestone reflects the continued momentum behind place-based approaches and to transforming the UK’s food system.

Sustainable Food Places works to improve places across the UK through building strong, local food systems. By bringing members together, the network supports practical solutions that help ensure everyone can access healthy and sustainable food.

This year, the standard of applications was incredibly high. Each one showed a clear understanding of the many factors that influence food systems, as well as the importance of bringing diverse voices into decision-making to develop solutions for healthier and more sustainable food.

As part of the network, members are joining a national movement. They can connect with others across the network, share knowledge and take part in regional and national events.

Members also receive support from the Sustainable Food Places team, can get involved with campaigns, apply for awards and access a range of useful online tools and resources.

Inspired to join our network?  Our next membership round takes place on 9th October 2026: Become a member | Sustainable Food Places
