Cost of living crisis

Supporting local food systems responses to the cost of living crisis.

The cost of living crisis has further exposed the pre-existing health and wealth inequalities in the UK. Household food insecurity is rising, obesity rates still climbing and health outcomes in deprived areas are worsening.

Food partnerships, alongside local authorities and other local organisations are playing a pivotal role in driving and coordinating effective community food responses to ensure nobody is left hungry in the face of ever rising food and energy prices, while tackling other critical issues in our food system including the climate and nature emergencies, and creating jobs, businesses and bring prosperity to local areas through the development of the good food sector.
