This is Rubbish

This is Rubbish, an organisation that works to reduce industry and supply chain food waste in the UK and beyond, using policy campaigns, education, the arts and public events. Recently we've changed focus to look at the wider food system and the problems with relying on food banks to tackle food insecurity.

Their Plenty to Share Food Justice workshops will be spaces to reflect on where we are and where we want to be, with space for the grief as well as the hope needed to work in food justice campaigning. These are designed for service users, staff and volunteers of frontline food organisations.

The workshops will cover the following:

  • Develop a shared understanding of food security and what has caused the need for food aid
  • Explore how the UK food system has relied on food waste to meet food poverty and the challenges of this
  • Envision a world without food banks or food poverty that centres equality and designs out food waste
  • Discuss how we can work together to build a world where food systems are changed to feed us all

The workshops last for two hours, with two online workshops and one in person workshop in London available to book onto.
