Our Nottinghamshire Food Summit on World Food Day 2024 brought together partners from across the food system to celebrate, network and plan how we work together  to transform our local food system. In 2025  in the World Food ' week' , we saw a range of partners engaging in empowering and codesign focussed activity across the food system to further progress the priorities kick -started at the Summit. A taste of some of the WFD 2025 activity is below:

Our partners at the UoN Food Systems Institute launched  the Centre for Equitable and Inclusive Food Systems

The Nottinghamshire Sustainable Food Network (NSFN)  launched our Food for the Planet workstream inaugural meeting with partners sharing a lovely meal over discussion on priorities and next steps.

DISHED held its first stakeholder event in Nottingham. The DISHED project (co-Designing innovative Infrastructure for Sustainable, Healthy and Equitable Diets) is testing a simple idea: can public restaurants promote healthier, more sustainable food systems while supporting local economies?

Public restaurants, much like libraries or public transport, could offer universal access to nutritious, affordable meals in social settings—co-designed with local residents to reflect their tastes and needs. This approach has the potential to improve public health, strengthen communities, and support ethical, sustainable food production.
