Pitch-perfect: getting the most out of connecting with your MPs

Join our Day of Celebration and Action preparatory session where we will cover all key logistical and preparatory details ahead of our Westminster event on 19th June, plus a special session on getting the most out of your meetings with MPs in an election year, delivered by Hope for the Future.

The event will consist of two parts, with a break in between, and will be recorded.

• 11:00 - 11:45: Logistics and key details, including event programme, joining on the day, liaising with your MPs, and comms and media work ahead of and after the event.
• 11:45 – 12:00: Break
• 12:00 – 13:00: Hope for the Future Training: Pitch-perfect – getting the most out of connecting with your MPs. 

SFP and Hope for the Future are hosting a 60 minute online training to upskill you in having impactful conversations with your MP, and how to build an effective relationship following on from a first meeting. This session will be run by Hope for the Future, a national charity with more than 10 years’ experience working with individuals and community groups, giving them the tools to have their own informed, impactful engagements with their elected representatives.

This training is designed to be accessible regardless of your level of political experience. It will cover the basics of the UK parliamentary system and devolved systems, and a step by step guide to having impactful conversations with your MP, right from how to find out who they are, to how to move them beyond their party line. This will include how to develop a “elevator pitch”, for meeting your MP at the Parliamentary event, and advice on building a relationship with your MP and Parliamentary Prospective Candidates in the context of the general election.
