SFP Campaigns Breakfast is back! Bring your tea or coffee and listen to this session. Campaigns breakfast meetings are here for you to connect and share with other local campaigners, hear national updates on issues related to the campaigns, and feedback your campaign progress and experiences.

Council elections are bigger than ever this May, with the direct election of thousands of local councillors in over 150 local authorities in England. It’s a great opportunity for organisations and individuals in the Sustainable Food Places network to interrogate their candidates and ensure good food is embedded in the local political agenda for years to come. For places not yet members of Sustainable Food Places, the local elections offer a unique opportunity to call for a food partnership in your local area.

This session is also about the role of Councillors in food and how they can support the work of food partnerships and other organisations, so it is useful for everyone, not just those in England or where’s local elections in 2021. Let’s face it, there will be a local election sooner or later in your area and food partnerships can always do with more Councillor support and recognition.

We’ll hear examples from two food partnerships of how they engaged in the local elections and tips from councillors. There will be plenty of time for questions, discussion and other examples from the network.
