The first Leicestershire Food Summit is underway today at Stanford Hall, near Lutterworth.

With around 100 delegates representing the Leicestershire food system, we will begin the event with a keynote speech from Leicestershire sustainable farmer and author Joe Stanley, the NFU rep for Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland.

We’ll also have workshops.

These will feature, among others, Professor Heiko Balzter of the University of Leicester, Trudi Waldram from the Food and Drink Forum, Beth Lambert of the Eco Village in Market Harborough and Alex Gray, Brooksby lecturer in regenerative agriculture and agroforestry and the Co-operative of Leicestershire Organic Growers (CLOGs).

We’re bringing people together to look at different aspects of the county food system, and exploring ways we can make it more resilient, more environmentally-friendly and better able to serve the Leicestershire public.

There’ll be updates from the summit throughout the day, with highlights on Facebook at @goodfoodleics
